Traffic Naman Palagi
Now, I have to wait for the FX to get full before we can even leave and then sit through over an hour of crawling traffic along Ortigas. It sucks. Time spent on the road feels like time wasted. And it’s not like I’m getting paid for that.
I used to ride my motorcycle to work. Fast, cheap, efficient. But that’s no longer practical. BGC parking fees are ridiculously expensive, and the stress of weaving through Metro Manila traffic? Unimaginable. So, I chose to commute instead. Less stress (minsan), no kamote drivers to dodge, and all I have to do is wait until I arrive.
Work itself isn’t stressful. My leads and teammates are kind and easy to get along with. The job’s chill. But the location? Pain in the ass. Literally. Imagine being squeezed into a hot, cramped van for more than an hour. It’s like being slow-cooked on wheels. I’d honestly say the commute is more exhausting than the job itself.
At one point, I was ready to resign. Sent out applications to a bunch of companies. Then I decided to pause. Maybe try to stay a bit longer and see what could happen.
This afternoon, while waiting for the FX to fill up, I found myself editing a promo vid for my latest music video. The traffic was insane. It took me three hours to get to work. But surprisingly, I was productive.
Now, on my way home, still waiting, I’m writing this blog. And I realized something: I’ve been doing more while commuting than I did when I was driving. I’ve learned to make the most out of the time I used to hate.
Yeah, traffic still sucks. But I’ve managed to turn it in my favor. Time spent stuck on the road is no longer wasted. It’s now time for thinking, refreshing, writing, conceptualizing, reading, and reflecting.
Nakakahilo pa. Di pa rin ako sanay.
x, myle.
